Case against Twitter/X
Between 2013 and 2021, Twitter collected personal data from over 30,000 applications via their advertising platform MoPub. Even when you didn’t have a Twitter account, they followed your real-time location and accessed in-app activities from apps like Shazam, Duolingo, Happn, Grindr, Vinted and many more. Including health applications, period trackers, and religious apps. These data-collecting practices are not illegal, but they are dangerous for our safety, freedom, and democracy.

Case against Amazon
Amazon collects your data from thousands of websites. In our research, we found that they even collect your data before you interact with the consent banner or when you actively decline cookies. If you clicked on agree, it’s highly arguable if that consent is valid cause there is no way to know that when you visit Booking.com, Funda, or TripAdvisor you share your personal and behavioural data with Amazon’s ad business.

Case against Adobe
Adobe is widely recognized for its graphic software, such as Photoshop and Acrobat. However, less is known about its other major business. In addition to generating revenue through costly software licenses, Adobe also profits from your data. The company claims that “The Adobe Experience Cloud is one of the most advanced ad systems in the world.” Through a variety of cookies and SDKs (cookie technology for apps), Adobe is able to track you across the internet. This allows advertisers to analyze your behavior in real-time and monitor your activity across devices.
