Can chatGPT lie? Are conversations compromised? Does OpenAI take deals and push agenda-driven answers? Will ChatGPT reply in ads?
In Chadding, Julia Janssen challenges ChatGPT to reveal its own understanding of how AI influences reality– and how OpenAI plans to control it. She exposes a future in which it becomes impossible to distinguish between a generated answer and a sponsored one, and pushes against ‘the inevitable’ development of genAI.
Algorithms unceasingly shape our lives: AI-generated content floods the internet, AI agents force their way into our lives, and genAI bots invade every pixel of digital space. Solving tasks, rewriting text, selecting entertainment, buying products, summarizing news, and synchronizing information. It all feels effortless, easy, and comfortable. But, at what cost? Frictionlessness comes with obedience. To the machine, the industry, and our own prophecy.
We need to ask ourselves if this smoothed world is the one we want to live in. Because if we stop exercising our brains, if truth is replaced by confident-sounding plausibility, if we ban the unpredictable, if we find comfort only in probabilities, and if we let AI decide whom to date, what to study, and how to vote. If we increasingly live within the mere margins of algorithms, what does it mean to be human?”
